Zangarna Game Lodge is a beautiful bushveld retreat in the Waterberg close to Vaalwater and Lephalale/Ellisras. It is situated in the beautiful malaria free Waterberg area.
With 2000 hectares of land to explore, you will discover the true spirit of Africa with its incredible Fauna and Flora.
The lodge is a three hour drive from O.R. Tambo airport.
A spacious and cosy typical ‘African Lodge’ built with local natural materials with its bar, living and dining areas organised around a wide open deck where sits the pool and the ‘Boma’ (traditional open sky fireplace) all overlooking the open Savannah. Every detail discreetly enhances comfort and provide the ‘ideal relaxation’ set up to celebrate memorable moments in Africa.
The 6 chalets have a warm, refined and peaceful atmosphere. With a private wooden decked terrace, an additional exterior shower, a spare sofa bed, a mini bar, a safe and ceiling fan, each chalet can accommodate a couple and child.
The delicate attention to the interior design and the choice of colours (unique to each chalet) is a vibrant celebration of African material.

Zangarna Game Lodge is situated on the Waterberg plateau which forms part Waterberg-Nylsvlei birding route. These routes were developed by Birdlife South Africa to promote ‘Avitourism’ throughout South Africa.
The area has a good mixture of habitats ranging from riverine, vlei/marshes, thorn veldt and typical Waterberg ‘sourveld’ with tall Wild Seringa and silver cluster leaf trees. Zangarna is about 1000ha and we have the traversing rights to some adjacent properties to. Those properties habitats range from open grasslands to rocky mountain ridges and valeys. As you can imagine the area is rich with a variety of birds ranging from water and marsh-land birds including African Black Duck, Black Crake, Green-back Heron, to the rarer African Crake and Red Chested Flufftail typical bushveld species including Black headed Oriole, White-crested Helmet-Shrike, Black Cuckoo-Shrike, all the inland woodpecker species, including the Grey headed Kingfisher and in with the summer migrants most of the Cuckoos occurring int South Africa.
The area offers great birding/game viewing and ideal for birding walks or guided game drives. Mammals include Giraffe, Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Red Hartebeest, and Eland to name a few.
